There is still the risk of fire in any place where electric machinery is used, much as there is at home. Maybe even worse in industries where we find not only electric devices, but also machines and processes involving high-temperature components, flammable liquids, and other factors that raise the risk of accident.
When performing asset inspections in these types of environments, the inspector is subjected to the following hazards, as specified by OSHA standards 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926:

  • Carbon monoxide explosion hazards in electric arc furnace steelmaking operations.
  • Combustible dust.
  • Explosion of pressure vessels.
  • Lack of emergency plans.
  • Lack of fire extinguishing equipment and systems.
  • Lack of exit routes in the area where the inspection is taking place.
