The field of maintenance in industry has evolved significantly, due primarily to improvements in control and measurement technology. This chapter provides a summary of this evolution and a comprehensive examination of machine predictive maintenance (CBM), including the establishment of basic implementation criteria. CBM's technical and economic benefits are also discussed and contrasted to traditional maintenance methods. And at last, the chapter focuses on discovering and evaluating the various predictive maintenance technologies.
